Win Clean Team Attend World Youth Netball Championships

As some of the world’s top netball nations descend on Glasgow for the 2013 World Youth Netball Championships, UK Anti-Doping will be present to offer athletes advice and support about how to Win Clean.

The Championships, being hosted by Glasgow Life and Netball Scotland, will see the home nations take on 16 other countries from across the globe to be crowned the world’s top Under-21 team. Over 240 athletes and 100 support staff will attend this year’s event, taking place at the Emirates Arena between 22-31 August.

UKAD’s national trainers will be operating an interactive outreach stand in the Athletes Village on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 August, as part of the Win Clean campaign. This will allow athletes and support staff to learn about the risks of inadvertent doping and help them to ‘Win Clean’ while training or competing in the UK.

UKAD Head of Education and Athlete Support Amanda Batt said: “With the Commonwealth Games taking place in Glasgow next year this is a great opportunity for young Netball players to gain valuable experience performing on the big stage. Many of those participating will go on to represent their country in the near future and it is important that they fully understand their anti-doping responsibilities. This event provides an excellent platform to educate the next generation and answer any questions they may have on the requirements or practices associated with clean sport.
